Virtual Exhibition: Loving Capricorn Coast
This virtual exhibition brings together a collection of my early works created between 2018 and 2021, when I was just beginning to explore watercolour painting. At that time, watercolour was a completely new medium for me, and these paintings represent my first steps in learning how to understand its delicacy, transparency, and unpredictability.
I chose seascapes as my subject matter, inspired by Yeppoon and the Capricorn Coast, a place I visit often and have grown deeply attached to. The changing colours of the ocean, the shifting light, and the calm but powerful presence of the coastline all became my teachers as I learned to work with watercolour. Each painting in this collection carries both the freshness of discovery and the uncertainties of a beginner’s hand.
Looking back now, these works mark an important chapter in my artistic journey. They remind me that every artist begins somewhere—with curiosity, experimentation, and sometimes struggle. For me, Yeppoon’s seascapes not only became subjects to paint but also symbols of a new life in Central Queensland, where I found inspiration in the landscape and the rhythm of the coast.
This collection is therefore both personal and formative: it is about learning a medium, falling in love with a place, and discovering how art could become a bridge between my new environment and my inner world.
